A pioneer in Gynaecology and IVF, Dr. (Brig) R K Sharma, VSM is a highly distinguished medical professional with a remarkable career spanning over three decades. A renowned specialist in infertility treatment and IVF, he has conducted more than 30,000 successful cases and is adept in all aspects of infertility, including clinical, endoscopic and embryological aspects. A graduate and post Graduate of the prestigious Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune, Dr. Sharma has made significant contributions to the field of gynaecology and IVF, both in India and abroad. His illustrious career includes serving as Professor and Head of Department (HOD) at top military medical institutions like Command Hospital (Southern Command) AFMC Pune and Army Hospital (Research and Referral) in New Delhi. Brig (Dr) Sharma is a pioneer in the field of IVF in India. He played a pivotal role in establishing the first government IVF centres at Army Hospital (R&R) in New Delhi and Command Hospital (Southern Command) in Pune, making advanced fertility treatments accessible to a wider population. Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Sharma is a distinguished educator and mentor.
He has served as a faculty for both graduate and postgraduate courses at Pune University, Delhi University, MUHS and has trained numerous infertility specialists and embryologists, including those from the armed forces, medical colleges like AIIMS, Maulana Azad Medical College, Northern Central Railway Hospital Delhi, CMH Bangladesh and many private practitioners. He continues to guide and mentor a new generation of specialists in reproductive medicine.
